What does post-construction cleaning include?

After a renovation or new build, fine dust settles on every surface and inside every vent, cabinet and window track. A regular clean is not built to remove it. We do one thorough final clean, room by room:

Whole space

  • Heavy dust and debris removed from floors, surfaces, shelves and vents, using commercial-grade equipment
  • Light fixtures, doors, baseboards and trim wiped to clear fine dust and residue
  • Window glass, sills and window tracks cleaned
  • Floors vacuumed and mopped

Kitchen

  • Cabinets and drawers cleaned, inside and out
  • Countertops, sinks and fixtures cleaned

Bathrooms

  • Fixtures, sinks, tubs, showers and toilets cleaned
  • Mirrors and surfaces wiped down

We finish with an inspection of the whole space to confirm it is move-in ready.

How much does post-construction cleaning cost in the Capital Region?

Post-construction cleaning with Menezes Cleaning typically costs $350 to $1,000. The exact price depends on the size of the space, how much dust and residue is left, and how many rooms, cabinets and windows need detail work.

Because every job is different, we visit the space first to see what needs to be done, then give you an exact quote before any work begins. Request a quote or call us to schedule the visit.

How long does post-construction cleaning take?

A post-construction cleaning takes at least three hours, and longer for larger spaces or heavier dust. Two or three cleaners come, depending on what the job needs. You do not need to stay while we clean.

What we do not do

To be clear about our scope, post-construction cleaning does not include:

  • Debris and material removal, such as dumpsters and hauling away leftover building materials
  • Mold removal
  • Paint, glue and adhesive that has hardened onto surfaces
  • Heavy drywall work and drywall debris

Your builder or contractor usually handles debris and materials. We come after, for the final clean.

Construction site cleanup for homes and commercial spaces

We clean after the work is done, for:

  • Homeowners finishing a kitchen, bathroom, basement or whole-home renovation
  • Builders, remodelers and property managers who need a clean space before handover
  • New and renovated commercial spaces, including stores, offices and warehouses

For ongoing cleaning once the space is open, see office cleaning. Planning a move into a freshly finished home? We also offer move-in and move-out cleaning.

What we need before we start

  • The construction work finished and the crew gone: we clean only after the work is done
  • Water and power turned on
  • A way in: we agree together on what works best for you, so you do not need to be there

When we finish, you check the space with us. If anything needs an adjustment, show us right then and we make it right.

When should you book post-construction cleaning?

Book it as soon as you have a finish date, so the cleaning lands right after the contractors leave and before you move in, put the furniture back or open to customers. Dust keeps settling while work is under way, so cleaning too early means doing it twice.

We ask for at least 72 hours of notice, and we can often schedule within the next few days. We cannot normally fit same-day jobs. We work Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and can also work Sundays when needed. There is no deposit to book. If you need to cancel, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance.

What is included in post-construction cleaning?

We remove heavy dust and debris from floors, surfaces and vents, wipe light fixtures, doors, baseboards and trim, clean window glass, sills and window tracks, clean inside and outside of cabinets and drawers, clean kitchen and bathroom fixtures, and vacuum and mop the floors. Yes. We provide construction site cleanup in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga and Warren counties, for homes and commercial spaces. See the service areas page for the full list.

Who cleans up after construction?

Do you clean new commercial buildings like stores, offices and warehouses?

Yes. We clean newly built and renovated stores, offices and warehouses, as well as homes. Contact us and we will visit the space, see what needs to be done and give you an exact quote.

How long does post-construction cleaning take?

It takes at least three hours, and longer for larger spaces or heavier dust. Two or three cleaners come, depending on what the job needs.

When should I book post-construction cleaning?

Book it when you have a finish date, so the cleaning lands after the contractors leave and before you move in, put furniture back or open to customers. Cleaning earlier means doing it twice, because dust keeps settling while work continues. We ask for at least 72 hours of notice.

What is the difference between post-construction cleaning and regular cleaning?

A regular clean keeps a lived-in space tidy. Post-construction cleaning removes fine construction dust and residue from every surface, vent, cabinet and window track, so a renovated or new space is ready to use.

What is not included in post-construction cleaning?

We do not remove debris or building materials (such as dumpsters or hauling), do not remove mold, do not remove paint, glue or adhesive that has hardened onto surfaces, and do not handle heavy drywall work or drywall debris. Your builder or contractor usually handles those before we come.

What do you need before cleaning starts?

Do you require a deposit, and what is the cancellation policy?

There is no deposit to book. If you need to cancel, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance.
